The center seams are aligned along the butt joint at the lower bout and the center of the neck mortise which by design are centered on the instrument. The inside and outside of the rib structure are traced onto the plate before a small washer, of adequate dimension to provide for the edge ovehang plus a millimeter, is traced around the rib. The upper bout of a bassback is bent and canted, to account for this four millimeters are added to the back length at the break to accomidate the bend. The outline is cut with a band saw and brought down to the linewith spindle and belt sanders. The outline will be completed when the box is closed.
